Cumberland, Maryland Offers $20,000 Incentive to New Residents

Overview

The City of Cumberland, Maryland is offering a $20,000 incentive to new residents who relocate to the area.

The program, known as the Live Near Your Work program, is designed to attract new workers to the region and boost the local economy.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the incentive, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Relocate to Cumberland, Maryland from outside of Allegany County
• Purchase or rent a home in Cumberland
• Obtain full-time employment in Allegany County

The incentive is available to both individuals and families.

Incentive Details

The $20,000 incentive is paid out over a five-year period, with $4,000 being paid each year.

To receive the incentive, participants must remain employed in Allegany County and reside in Cumberland for the entire five-year period.

Applications for the Live Near Your Work program are available on the City of Cumberland website.

The deadline to apply is December 31, 2023.
