New York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu was hit in the face by a ball while taking grounders at first base on Wednesday morning.
Manager Aaron Boone said LeMahieu was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, but the team is hopeful that the injury is not serious.
- "We're disappointed for DJ," Boone said. "He's been a big part of our team, and we're hoping for the best."
- LeMahieu is batting .295 with six home runs and 46 RBIs this season.
- The Yankees are currently in first place in the AL East, with a record of 65-37.
